What is an Apprenticeship?

The Apprenticeship at Level 2 consists of 4 qualifications:

Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading
Level 1 Functional Skills in ICT, Communication & Numeracy.
Unit on Employee Rights & Responsibilities
Personal Learning & Thinking Skills

Setting:

This programme is suitable for new or existing staff that are first and foremost practitioners and work alongside team members. The team leader role is to focus on the short term, on the day to day performance of the team and its members. This will involve allocating work, ensuring quality and service requirements are delivered and communicating with the team and managers.

Structure of Qualifications:

The Level 2 Diploma in Management is a qualification combining knowledge and competence assessment. Evidence of competence will be by observation of practice, testimony from others and work products. Knowledge units are assessed by short answer questions or written assignments.

The qualification offers a wide choice of units reflecting the variety of roles and tasks learners carryout in the workplace. Learners have to complete 5 mandatory units and have a wide choice of optional units. A total of 40 credits need to be achieved to complete the qualification. ERR is a unit within the Diploma.

Functional Skills assesses your application of ICT, English and Maths skills. Learners have an initial assessment of their skills and an action plan agreed to improve their skills. Assessment is by written exam in each subject area, exams are 1-2 hours long. English communication also is assessed by observation of a group presentation.
Programme Delivery

All learners receive one to one assessment in the workplace, arranging meetings with their assessor with line manager approval. The length of programme is 12 months.

Learners are registered with ILM with 2 years free study membership and access to free e learning workbooks and video tutorials.

Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading

The Diploma is made of units with different credit value and learners need to achieve 40 credits to be awarded a Diploma. All learners will complete the mandatory core units and then a range of optional units that reflect their service area and work role.
