An apprenticeship standard at level 5 is a job with training. Being an apprentice means that you have a job that includes achieving recognised qualifications and
essential work skills whilst you are earning a wage.

The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management Adult Care is an occupational
qualification for learners who work in Adult Care Settings. Developed by Skills
for Care based on employer and CQC requirements the qualification provides
different pathways reflecting the diversity of roles and settings across the
sector.

This qualification is appropriate for care managers, registered managers,
deputy managers, unit managers or service managers in residential, day care,
domiciliary care and supported living. A role in social care can mean you
working in voluntary, local authorities, private and independent social care
organisations.

Programme Delivery:

We will develop an individual learning plan based on your skills, experience
and current role. Any prior certificated learning would be identified. With your
employer we will identify paid off the job learning opportunities, minimum 20%.
This will include mentoring, shadowing, independent research and learning, e
learning and coaching. Most learners complete the apprenticeship in 18 months.

Learning Support

The assessor will meet with the learner a minimum of every 4 weeks to deliver
coaching and learning. Clear plans and next steps will be agreed for skill and
knowledge development and feedback given on achievement. Reflective
practice, professional discussions, observation of practice, employer testimony
will be used to ensure learning. Learners will have to do written work
particularly to demonstrate knowledge. For the Diploma the learners is given
free access to online learning using Smartscreen, a City & Guilds approved
learning package.

Structure of Qualifications:

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Managment for Adult Care is the occupational
competence qualification developed by Skills for Care and is based on the input
from employers.

Apprentices must be employed in a job appropriate to the apprenticeship standard and they must be able to undertake the full range of duties confidently and competently to the standard set by the sector.

End Of Course Qualifications

Leader in Adult Care Worker Level 5 Apprenticeship:

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care

(This is the qualification that is promoted and valued by employers)

Functional Skills Level 2 in Mathematics and English.

End Point Assessment

On achievement of your diploma and functional skills you will then complete:

  • An on-line multiple choice test. The test will present you with a range of work based scenarios and questions that relate to the knowledge and skills elements of the diploma.

and

  • A professional discussion that will be no more than 45 minutes in duration. The discussion will be based on your prior learning and experience. The professional discussion will take place either in your workplace or within a centre under controlled conditions.

The results you achieve in these assessments will determine whether you are awarded a pass, a merit or a distinction.
